The Belong Hub Leadership Kit is a set of flexible tools designed to empower students and educators to build stronger, more connected school communities. It supports leadership development, problem-solving, and co-creation using a design-driven approach.

The kit is designed for students and educators in grades 6–12. It can be used in leadership classes, student councils, advisory groups, or co-curricular programs — and it’s adaptable for different school contexts.

The kit includes seven tools that can be used in sequence or independently. These tools guide learners through connecting, identifying needs, brainstorming ideas, planning, co-creating, and tracking progress in their schools.

Yes! Each tool includes a facilitation guide, so students can lead the workshops and activities themselves, co-lead with faculty, or be supported by faculty as part of a shared process.

The full kit is designed to be used over the course of a semester or school year, giving student groups time to build trust, assess community needs, and co-create meaningful projects. Each individual activity includes guidance for adapting to different scheduling needs—whether you’re working with short sessions, weekly leadership blocks, or planning a full-day workshop.

Absolutely. Some schools use the full process, while others focus on just a few tools — like gathering student voice or building team trust.

The kit was co-created by Rachael Thrash, a seasoned educational leader, and Mustafa Alshihani, an interdisciplinary designer focused on empathy and impact. Together, they bring expertise in pedagogy, design, and social innovation.

• Day 1: Faculty design training

Each tool can be used in a 45–90 minute block, or extended into full-day workshops. They’re flexible for advisory periods, class projects, or ongoing leadership work.
